In The Field of Shooting Range Acoustics

  • Developed 16 channel high-speed indoor, outdoor range and shoot house testing procedures and methodologies (For ranges tested see Accomplishments)
  • Designed portable 16 channel high-level recording platform for use in testing indoor and outdoor shooting ranges and shoot houses
  • Pioneering the use of Pound-Force per Square Inch (psi) and Pound-Force per Square Inch Time (psi(t)) to gauge the amount pressure on the shooters and to evaluate shooting ranges before and after acoustic treatment
  • Uncovered and illuminated on the increase in peak level and PSI found under non-acoustically treated canopies and baffles due to the effect of the incident blast wave overpressure
  • Devised treatment for incident blast wave overpressure effect
  • Featured Speaker National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Development Conferences (RDOC) on “Environmental Sound,” featured Speaker on gunfire measurement and acoustic treatment American Industrial Hygiene Conference (AIHce), and the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI)

  • Won an Academy Award for the co-development of Dolby Stereo.

  • Founding partner Eventide Electronics, one of the first manufacturers of professional digital audio equipment
